SUPERGLOSS is a lash and brow bar on Fairfax with four beds, a gloss counter by the window and a policy of telling you the truth about your lashes. Loud room, careful work.

Story

It started in 2017 with one chair rented by the hour in a shared studio on Beverly, a ring light bought secondhand, and Tiana taking bookings through Instagram DMs between retail shifts. The waitlist got to nine weeks before she quit the day job.

The Fairfax room opened in the spring of 2019 with two beds and a hand-painted sign. We added the third and fourth bed in 2021, the gloss bar in 2022 — originally a folding table and a box of pigments Zaria brought from home — and stopped there. Four beds is the most this room can hold while still feeling like somewhere you'd want to lie down for two hours.

What hasn't changed is the map. Every set opens with tape, a pencil and eight minutes of working out where your eye actually opens. It is the least glamorous part of the appointment and it is the entire reason the work looks like it does.

House rules

Four things we won't move on, however good the reference photo is and however much you want it done today.

  1. We map before we glue

    Curl, length and diameter worked out section by section against your eye shape and your natural lash strength. You see the map before we start. Sets that skip this step are why people think extensions ruin your lashes.

  2. The weight has to be honest

    A natural lash can carry roughly a third of its own weight. If mega volume is going to snap yours, we'll say so and build you something dense in a finer diameter instead. We would rather lose the upsell than your lashes.

  3. Nobody leaves without knowing the aftercare

    Cleanser, spoolie, no oil, no picking. Sixty seconds at the counter and a card in your bag. Retention is roughly half technique and half what happens in your bathroom, and we're only in charge of one of those.

  4. Prices are on the wall and on the site

    What you see is what it costs. Add-ons are listed, fills are priced by set type, and your artist confirms the total before you lie down. No consultation-only pricing, no surprises at the card reader.

The room

Four beds along the old brick wall at the back, a row of round backlit mirrors, a chrome gloss counter in the front window, and a playlist that is loud from Thursday and louder on Saturday. There's a rail of samples by the door and an espresso machine that is genuinely good.

The beds are memory foam with a heated topper because two hours is two hours. Ring lights are daylight-balanced, so the colour you approve lying down is the colour you get on Fairfax outside.

Finding us
Between Rosewood and Oakwood, in the mint-tiled storefront next to the record shop. Walk through the courtyard — we're the door with the chrome sign.
Parking
Metered on Fairfax until 8pm, free after. The lot behind Rosewood is $3 flat and nobody knows about it.

Tiana started doing lashes out of a rented chair on Beverly in 2017, working evenings around a retail job, and had a nine-week waitlist within a year. She opened the Fairfax room in 2019 with two beds and a rule she still enforces: nobody gets a set their natural lashes can't carry, no matter how much they ask.

Her mapping is the reason clients travel for her. She'll spend ten minutes on tape and pencil working out where your eye actually opens before a single fan goes on, and she teaches the same method to every artist who joins the floor.

Mari came up in a threading studio in Boyle Heights and has been shaping brows for twelve years, long enough to have watched the trend swing from pencil-thin to bushy and back. She maps every brow before she removes anything, and she'll show you the plan in the mirror first.

She's the reason we take lamination bookings seriously: if your brows aren't ready she will tell you to come back in six weeks, book you a tint in the meantime, and mean it.

June has the lightest hand in the studio and takes almost every first-timer and every sensitive-eye client on the books. She works in silence unless you start the conversation, which a surprising number of people specifically request.

She also runs our lash lift service, and is quietly evangelical about it — she'll happily talk you out of extensions if a lift is what your lashes actually want.

Sloane does the sets that end up on the grid — coloured lashes, two-tone spikes, crystals set on the extension rather than the skin so they last the full two weeks. She trained in makeup before lashes and it shows in how she matches colour to skin tone.

She also built the gloss bar from a folding table and a box of pigments, and now blends around forty custom glosses a week at the chrome counter by the window.
